A beautiful evening, and where better to enjoy it than a Thames-side pub. Mind you, it got cool later and we were glad of the open fires inside.
Beavertown - Gamma Ray (keg) | 5.40 | | On keg dispense. Is there a better regularly-brewed APA-style beer in London? I don’t think so. |
Sambrook's - Jugged Hare (house beer for ETM Group) | 4.20 | | A Pale Ale that is quite full-bodied for its strength. |
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
Sambrook's - Wandle | 3.80 | Not Tried
Sambrook's - Junction | 4.50 | Not Tried
17 Sep 2015 (Stephen Harris)
I met up with a friend here after work and we were fortunate enough to get a table on the rear decking with river views. I really do like this pub, although you pay for the views and the good service and the excellent beer etc..
Long Arm - IPA OK | 5.00 | | Amber-coloured. Tropical fruit from US hops and a long bitter finish. Good enough to have two. |
Vibrant Forest - Chinook | 5.00 | | Dispensed from some form of keggery. A very cloudy, yellow/gold colour. In your face hop flavours. |
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
Sambrook's - Jugged Hare (house beer for ETM Group) | 4.20 | Not Tried
Long Arm - Birdie Flipper | 4.50 | Not Tried
20 Aug 2015 (Stephen Harris)
Early to mid-evening and very busy. Mostly drinkers, but several tables taken in the restaurant area. A large group of German tourists crowd in.
Northern Monk - Chennai Export Porter | 5.40 | | A great, near-black, strong Porter (a ‘Stout Porter’ perhaps?). |
Gun - Parabellum Milk Stout | 4.10 | | I momentarily thought the pub had started brewing when I saw this, before I remembered the Gun Brewery from Sussex. A sweetly coffee flavoured, black Milk Stout. |
Sambrook's - Jugged Hare (house beer for ETM Group) | 4.20 | Not Tried
Long Arm - Birdie Flipper | 4.50 | Not Tried
15 Apr 2015 (Stephen Harris)
Early evening visit to take advantage of the warm weather. Lots of other people have had the same idea though and I can’t get anywhere near the riverside decking.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - American Sister | 5.20 | | On ‘keg’ dispense – probably a key-keg I would guess, given that it is not over-carbonated. Very good US hop flavours. |
Long Arm - IPA OK | 5.00 | | Golden. Full-bodied. Malt, rather than hops, dominate. |
Long Arm - Birdie Flipper | 4.50 | | Hmmm! A Red Ale. |
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
Sambrook's - Jugged Hare (house beer for ETM Group) | 4.20 | Not Tried
30 Mar 2015 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening late after 11. Only customer in. Friendly bar staff and lots of activity setting out dining tables for tomorrow.
Sambrook's - Jugged Hare (house beer for ETM Group) | 4.20 | | Seemed rather fresh. I was pleased to see that the provenance of this house beer was clearly stated, even so far as having its own beer mats |
Belhaven - Caledonian Deuchars IPA | 3.80 | Not Tried
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Wells / Dogfish Head DNA | 4.50 | Not Tried
29 Jan 2015 (Stephen Harris)
There is a small beer festival on here and I am able to visit in mid-afternoon before the crowds build up.
Wild Beer Co. - Wild Goose Chase | 4.50 | | A very cloudy, yellow colour. Tart and sour, with gooseberry tastes. |
WharfeBank - Black Hawk | 4.50 | | A very nice Black IPA that went down well. |
Anarchy - Simcoe | 4.10 | | Excellent, full-on, lemony, Simcoe hop flavours. And in great condition from the stillage. |
WharfeBank - Ro Sham Bo | 4.20 | | A pale ‘Session IPA’. |
Rebel - Gold Top Milk Stout | 4.50 | | Reddish-brown in colour. A bit of vanilla in the flavour and a touch of lactose sweetness (this is a Milk Stout). Chocolate. But flavours suffer from rather flat condition off the stillage. |

04 Sep 2014 (Stephen Harris)
The large terrace to the side of the pub is open this evening for viewing of the tall ships arriving into London, and it proves to be a really good vantage point over a couple of pints.
Arbor Ales - Blue Sky Drinking | 4.40 | | Excellent Best Bitter; one where the word ‘best’ actually means something. |
Moncada - Notting Hill Porter | 5.00 | | A black, richly-flavoured Porter. Loads of coffee and chocolate flavours. |
Adnams - Broadside | 4.70 | Not Tried
Sambrook's - Jugged Hare (house beer for ETM Group) | 4.20 | Not Tried

Early Friday evening, and plenty of after-workers in. Great river views here.

Early to mid-evening visit. There is an interesting beer festival underway, featuring only un-fined beers. Four on handpump and eight on a stillage set up on the riverside decking. Another ten or so due over the weekend. Some special kegs and bottles too, although I did not venture that way. Not overcrowded.
