11 Aug 2012 (Alenomore)
12:00 visit. Came here for Combined Op's, the Military Show and Vintage Aircraft weekend. The Invicta Military Vehicle Preservation Society brought along a fine display of machinery. The air displays from the classic aircraft were impressive and the highlight was the Lancaster Bomber and a Spitfire from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, which made for a sight and sound to behold on there display. The Wings Bar here sold a full range of Shep's products with one handpump in use. The Marquee Bar and entertainment area, set up withing the main event had a small selection of ales, straight from the cask. A great day out here, our first visit to this event. The Wings Bar is normally only open in the evenings, after all flying has finished, todays big event being an exception. The Holding Point Cafe, also here, is open all day, every day.

The pub is found in Headcorn, Kent, TN27 9HX.

Situated at the main entrance to the airfield, Wings Bar is a fully licensed bar serving alcoholic beverages as well as food in the evenings. Frequented by the locals as well as those who have participated in events during the day, this is the venue for many a tall aviation story! Set within the grounds of Headcorn Aerodrome, a mainly private and light commercial airfield which also caters for the parachuting and skydiving enthusiast. The Lashenden Warfare museum is also here and has a large display of WWII remnants of the aircraft shot down over the skies of Kent. Also here, the Holding Point Café is the meeting area for people taking part in the various activities at the aerodrome, whether pilots, parachutists or spectators. Closed on 19th December 2021 although a new operator may be found and subsequently was. Most recently re-opened spring 2024, once more after the winter closure and with another operator.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 4 different beers and tried them all.
