Early afternoon and a few locals coming and going during our short stay. Friendly and welcoming from the guv who'd recently took on the pub 6 weeks ago.

Shortly after opening just one other chap at the bar. Many years since my last visit and pleased to see it's still a proper pub.

Early afternoon, we sat in what used to be the Saloon Bar and enjoyed the warmth and atmosphere in here today which was only spoiled by the piped music. We stopped for a second pint.

A good proper pub, I sat in the former saloon bar and enjoyed a bacon and brie sandwich which was good value at £3.75.

Saturday afternoon, fairly quiet.

Wednesday afternoon and they still have half day closing in Hythe so there was hardly anyone about in the town, and probably worth a visit just to escape from Christmas shoppers, fairly quiet in the pub with a few at the bar reading the Daily Record and discussing what Cullen Skink might be.

Early afternoon, most of the regulars were sitting in what used to be the saloon bar, whilst I sat in the old public bar area and enjoyed a sensibly priced sandwich with my beer.

I had to change buses at Hythe so I decided to pop in here to check the timetables, well that's my excuse. I had a good chat with the landlord who told me that Kent's Best has now definitely been discontinued and he had bought the last ten casks from the brewery in order to sell it for as long as possible. A Shepherd Neame award for the quality of the beer served in this pub was proudly displayed in the public bar.

Early evening for a quick pint, a good proper pub.
