Found a short stroll from the High Street In Clegg Street, towards the rear of the Town Square shopping centre, this genuine freehouse, once owned by Gartside Brewery, is a shrine to real ale in the area, with no less than seven handpumps in use plus real cider, perry and an extensive foreign bottle range. Good value food menu is available weekdays. The feature, stone fireplace is over 200 years old.
We have visited this pub 4 times, seen 14 different beers and tried 6 of them.
