Lunchtime. Here for some live music as part of the Folk and Ale festival. Good early gig - pub filling up later.

Lunchtime for a Xmas meal with my cycling group, the Potterers. My first visit here - separate restaurant are that we took over (24 of us). All very friendly and courteous staff. Shame about the beer “choice”, just one ale on at a time.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Greene King - Morland Old Speckled Hen4.50Good
Black Sheep - Best Bitter3.80PoorTired. End of barrel. Replaced by Speckled Hen soon after.

Came for lunch. They were in the middle of a beer delivery when we arrived. The pub seemed quite busy at the bar but quiet everywhere else. My first beer was off so I took it back. The lady behind the bar thought that the recent beer delivery had shaken the barrels up too much. Anyway she replaced the beer.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Black Sheep - Best Bitter3.80AcceptableNot in great condition.
Black Sheep - Best Bitter3.80UndrinkableVinegar and cloudy. Took it back and got another.

Came here for a meal so didn't sit in the bar. Food was good and the staff were friendly.

Absolutely gasping for a pint, cycled around 20 miles by this point. I really like this place, it's got a really good chillaxed atmosphere.
BeerABVScoreNotes

Debbie had taken over the reins of the car by the time we reached here. It was mid-afternoon and only a few people in, but the atmosphere was good. Glad to see some Hopdaemon on.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Incubus4.00GoodDark brown and fruity. I like this beer, but it never seems to be the same twice. This was full of dark current fruit but lacked any real bitterness. Good without being great.
Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%)3.40Not Tried
Wadworth - 6X4.10Not Tried

The pub was busy preparing for the arrival of a wedding party so the dinning area had been cordoned off. The bar area was busy and a large, loud, TV was showing the rugby.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ventnor - Hippy High Ale4.40GoodA mid brown bitter. Basically it tasted of sherbet from start to finish. Quite pleasant

Has the feel of a hotel lobby for some reason. Friendly enough but a bit impersonal.
BeerABVScoreNotes

Archers - Slap & Tickle4.40AcceptableA best bitter. Good malt and slightly sickly syrupy hops.
