Lovely pub to find a quiet spot and read a book, apart from tonight where three old boys with poor hearing were making a racket. Never mind, still a great place to sit and have a slightly noisy beer.

Picking up where I was so rudely interrupted by the necessity to run for a train in April 2013. A relaxed lunchtime pint and an opportunity to explore this fine old pub.

An unacceptably brief visit, as I bought a pint, checked the time, bolted my pint and ran for my train. Savouring the pint was not worth the cost of a penalty-rate rail ticket back to London.

The pub is found in Coventry, West Midlands, CV1 3BA.
An ancient pub in Spon Street, the most impressive Coventry street to have survived wartime bombing. Numerous little rooms, low ceilings, stone floor, wood panelling. Something of a classic. Local CAMRA branch Pub of the Year 2015 and 2017.
