Evening visit, and a few customers at the bar. There was a real fire burning in the grate which was welcome on a wet and windy evening.

Shepherd Neame - Spitfire (or Spitfire Amber Ale)4.20GoodNot my favourite beer but this was very well kept.

There were a mix of locals sat at the bar on an early Friday evening. My first time in the pub and it does have a feel of a northern working mens club.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Tetley - Dark Mild3.20AcceptableDeep ruby colour with lasting beige head. I haven't had this in years! Some dark caramel on nose. bit thin of flavour in mouth, some dark toffee, some choc. Finish has no pronounced hop, some dryness. Traditional mild, not huge on flavour, but in good condition which shows that they must get through the milds here. Could do with more flavour and body, but it's fine for what it is.

The pub is found in Cheriton, Kent, CT19 4NY.

At one stage closed with the intention to convert to flats then re-opened under private ownership. This pub has the feel of a traditional working mens' pub on a housing estate just opposite one of the local large schools. Twentieth century red brick building with a central wooden bar serving a single room. There is a pool table, dart board and Sky Sports in the Napoleon Bar and seating and games machines in the Waterloo Bar to the right. Three handpumps on the bar counter. Badly damaged by fire on Sunday 25th May 2014. Apparently it had been closed for business for about a month before this fire. Permission to demolish has now been given by the local council and that took place in November 2017.

We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 3 different beers and tried 2 of them.
