Time to try this pub again, so an evening visit until 11pm close. Everything as it was, with the addition of an open-to-view kitchen and a garden facility, A pretty grim beer range on the pumps. So sad to see Watneys Pale Ale on keg here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wadworth - Horizon4.00AcceptableLast half out of a cask, given gratis
Sambrook's - A.P.A.4.50AcceptableLacklustre, asked for and received some lemonade shots to help this down. Long time since I have had a truly enjoyable Sambrook's I fear

Midday visit and trade was beginning to build up whilst I was here. A chilli and lime Scotch Egg did me for lunch. Antic’s hallmarks of dilapidated surroundings and charming staff are both very evident here.

Evening. Recognised bar staff from other Antic houses. Security on door. Friendly feel inside. An amazing range of beers on. Uncovered patched plasterwork and can still see evidence of fire damage.

The pub is found in Grove Park, Greater London, SE12 0DU.

Imposing building located pretty much opposite Grove Park railway station it was built in 1882 and designed by Ernest Newton and became Grade II listed in 2018. It is the last remaining part of the original estate of the Earl of Northbrook, Lord Baring and since its conception has been though many changes. Most recently it survived the threat of demolition and then a fire. Renovated by Antic and due to open 21st November 2013 but date not met so now early December 2013 is being quoted. Eventually opened on Wednesday 18th December 2013. Equipped with 8 handpumps. Typical Antic style of shabby chic furnishings but in this case the decorations, upon opening, were very much (and remain so) unfinished business including obvious evidence still extant of fire damage. Security on the door initially but that seems to have stopped now. Open-to-view kitchen (added later) and restaurant seating area towards the rear.

We have visited this pub 7 times, seen 29 different beers and tried 15 of them.
