CAMRA meeting evening venue until 10pm close.
Anspach & Hobday - The IPA Summit, Ekuanot and Enigma | 6.00 | | Bordering on 5* so 4½*. Exceptional ale with full aromatic hop nose and balanced aftertaste. Delight to drink |
Anspach & Hobday - The Ordinary Bitter (was 3.7%) | 3.40 | Not Tried | |
27 Dec 2019 (Stephen Harris)
This is turning into a pubcrawl.
Anspach & Hobday - The Triple Mashed Mild | 3.90 | | From key-keg. A tasty Mild. Caramel and toasted malt. |
11 Oct 2019 (Stephen Harris)
Early evening. Great to find the handpump in use tonight.
Anspach & Hobday - The Ordinary Bitter (was 3.7%) | 3.40 | | A particularly good Bitter, as you might expect from this excellent brewery. |
26 Oct 2018 (Stephen Harris)
An early evening visit. The single handpump here is again not in use tonight.
Anspach & Hobday - The Experimental Gose | 3.30 | | From keg. Cold, fizzy, cloudy, golden. Sour and salty – the authentic taste of Leipzig (insofar as my distant memories suggest). |
Anspach & Hobday - The 4th Anniversary Baltic Porter | 7.30 | | From key-keg. A heavy, bitter, black Porter with lots of liquorice. |
28 Sep 2018 (Stephen Harris)
Early evening, before the crowds build.
Anspach & Hobday - Das German Session IPA | 4.80 | | From key-keg. Golden and crisp and clear. Very fresh. Bitter hop flavours. |
Anspach & Hobday - Oso Brew Co. Citrus Cream Ale | 3.00 | | From key-keg. Oso is a new brewpub in Madrid, although the initial beers have been brewed here in Bermondsey. This is a clear, golden beer with a full mouthfeel and good hops. |
13 Jul 2018 (Stephen Harris)
Hot and busy in here tonight. Great to hear that they still have a good relationship with Bullfinch Brewery. Nothing on cask today.
Bullfinch - Apollo 2: Cascade | 6.00 | | From key-keg. Cloudy gold and smells fantastic. Taste backs it up – fresh and hoppy. |
Anspach & Hobday - Dark Side of Papa | 6.60 | | From key-keg. Good another Black IPA. Quite heavy and rather lush. |
06 Oct 2017 (Stephen Harris)
My first stop on a short Bermondsey brewery stroll.
Anspach & Hobday - Das Schwarzbier | 6.10 | | From key-keg. A nice strong beer in the German Black Lager tradition. Not far removed from being a malty Porter. |
Anspach & Hobday - The Pale Ale | 4.40 | Not Tried | From cask. |
07 Jul 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Mid-evening until last orders.
Anspach & Hobday - The Experimental Miami Weiss | 5.50 | | From key-keg – Hazy pale gold. A very well-hopped Wheat Beer. |
Anspach & Hobday - Pacifica IPA | 6.10 | | From key-keg. Amber-coloured and well-hopped. Quite harsh hop flavours I thought. |
Anspach & Hobday - The Pale Ale | 4.40 | Not Tried | Available from cask. |
09 Jun 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Mid-evening visit. The handpump is not in use today. Not over-crowded.
Anspach & Hobday - The Experimental Mango & Chilli Gose | 3.10 | | Key-keg dispense. A cloudy yellow colour, so salty that it smells salty. Starts fruity and becomes chilli-dominated. Bursting with flavour. |
05 May 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Very cosy in here tonight.
Anspach & Hobday - The Session IPA (Centennial, Ekuanot, Waimea) | 5.10 | | Cask conditioned and brewery fresh. Golden, clear and full-bodied with great hop flavours. |
Anspach & Hobday - The Jackson IPA | 6.00 | | From key-keg. A cloudy, amber colour. Seemed a bit cold and fizzy after the cask beer, but clearly has good flavours. |
