Evening. Just outside the centre of the town but the Blue Monkey hanging sign is prominent from far off. Enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable bar staff - one was actually a brewer in Nottingham by day.

The pub is found in Newark, Nottinghamshire, NG24 4XF.
In Portland Street and formerly The Horse & Gears, but now taken over by Blue Monkey Brewery it reopened during Easter week 2014. It remains a beer drinkers' pub with few pretensions. 7 handpumps on the main bar counter. There is an additional rear room and a small outside, partly weatherproofed, garden / smoking area.
We have visited this pub 5 times, seen 19 different beers and tried 6 of them.
