Evening quick look in, no cask ales so quick exit.

Evening. Had heard that the 3 handpumps had been ripped out and this was confirmed by seeing silver coloured round plates over their counter top holes. Barman said the instruction to remove them had come "from on high". This reminds me of the bad old days of the late 60s and early 70s with wholesale reduction in choice as mass handpump withdrawals took place nationwide. Had a £4.85 pint of overchilled overgassed Meantime 5% Wheat Beer then made my excuses and left.

Busy in the early afternoon with families and diners. I do not get beyond the first beer tap on the bar.

2220 hours visit. Hoped I'd find some Meantime London Pale Ale on handpump. In the absence thereof then when in Rome do as the Romans do and so drank Meantime keg beers. Meantime London Pale Ale 4.3%, Meantime Wheat Beer 5% and the keg guest BrewDog Zeitgeist 4.5%.
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | Not Tried

Made the most of the British summertime by plotting in the peaceful back garden.
Meantime - London Pale Ale | 4.30 | | After missing out on the Scotch Ale, it was replaced with a cask London Pale Ale. They were still prepping it when I went up to order so I was told they would bring it over to me. After 10 mins I was presented with a pint of the keg version. Hmmph. |
Meantime - Maibock Elderflower | 6.00 | | Sweet and elderflowery! |
Meantime - Scotch Ale | 10.00 | Not Tried | My eyes lit up when I walked in and saw this on CASK! Unfortunately by the time I had eased myself in with the Maibock this was finished. Buggeration. |

Decided to nip in as we were in the area and ended up stopping for dinner. Beautiful lamb and dauphinoise potatoes washed down quite splendidly with cask Meantime IPA. Life is just good like that sometimes. Along with the two handpulled ales was a comprehensive keg lineup of Meantime Pale Ale, London Stout, Union, Helles, Kolner, Wheat Beer, Raspberry and St Louis Kriek.
Meantime - India Pale Ale | 7.50 | | I almost wet myself when I walked in and saw this on handpump. Possibly the best Meantime beer out of the bottle and truly spectacular from cask. Sweet sherry scent and turbo marmalade flavours shone through all those amazing hops. |
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried | I always think this looks a bit out of place in here. It must sell though. |

Sunny Saturday lunchtime and the patio garden was full. Pub uses lined glasses so you get your full pint/half pint. Second stop on the SE London pub crawl.
Meantime - Extra Dry Stout | 4.50 | | Black with brown edges and tan head. Lots of dry roasted malt on aroma. Quite harshly dry and maybe overly roasted. Unsubtle. Lots of dry bitter dark choc. Espresso coffee beans. Very drinkable though. Finish has more lengthy choc/coffee. Decent |
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
