A rambling building formerly the Woodman, it was built in 1845 but was demolished and rebuilt in 1931 by Reffells Brewery when large-scale building began in the area. Recently renamed after the original landlord. Used by many in the old days as a sliproad roadhouse just off the A2 Rochester Way. Very large inside and a major emphasis on TV screens for sport. An honest boozer with a Wetherspoon's style. 6 handpumps. A 20% discount on real ales for card carrying CAMRA members plus a buy 5 get one free loyalty card on ales, the latter for everyone. Refurbished and relaunched in December 2018. Large TV screens showing sport in all parts of the pub.

We have visited this pub 16 times, seen 48 different beers and tried 18 of them.
