Busy. Lots of seating for parties. Maybe they get lots of crews coming in. We were squashed in a bit. The atmosphere was a bit like a busy town bar. The staff were polite and attentive but the general atmosphere was a bit funny. All the parts of this pub were okay but I just didn't enjoy it.

Quiet in here in the early lunchtime, but it is the calm before the storm in Cowes, with 1,000-plus thirsty Round the Island Race crews due to descend later in the day, wind permitting.

The pub is found in Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 7SA.
In High Street, this pub was established in 1704 as the Three Trumpeters, becoming the Anchor Inn by 1828. It is one of the few surviving old pubs in Cowes, a town which had no shortage of pubs in years past. In modern times it has extended into the premises next door, whilst the former stables now function as a dining area, with outdoor courtyard seating to the rear.
