21 Nov 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until close. Once again the 6 hand pumps round the corner had pumpclips showing for some beers not available. Why DO they do that here?
BeerABVScoreNotes
Surrey Hills - Ranmore Ale3.80Excellent4½* New cask just put on. This was glorious in every way. A tribute to the brewer and the cellarperson

BeerABVScoreNotes
Surrey Hills - Ranmore Ale3.80ExcellentGood enough to have a second one, albeit it had to be rushed down. Superb sour bitterness
Banks's - Zululand Zulu Blonde4.50GoodLeftover JDW festival ale. Lacked the bitterness I hoped for but still well rounded

17 Oct 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Late evening visit until close. Please stop the habit of having pumpclips showing for beers that are not available, on the pub's left of the bar dogleg. There were two Surrey Hills ones there I wanted!
BeerABVScoreNotes
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur5.90ExcellentTop notch for flavour, as it should be
Adnams - Yazoo Dos Perros4.80GoodJDW festival, darkish and malty
Evan Evans - Challenger4.30GoodLots of bitterness, soon ran out after another customer or two

11 Sep 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until close. Got off to a right bad start finding both Surrey Hills beers I wanted had pump clips showing for display purposes only. After some protestations the barperson turned them round. Bah!
BeerABVScoreNotes
Beartown (latterly part of Manning Brewers) - Bear Ass4.00GoodA mellow ruby ale holding very good head and lacing. Best of the evening
Twickenham (also uses sub-brand Old Hands) - El Dorado Pale4.20GoodA dry tongue rasping bitterness
Oakham - Ernest4.00GoodRather bland single hopper
Greene King - Abbot5.00AcceptableBore no resemblance to any Abbot I know. Far too chilled and even hand cupping the glass failed to restore much flavour

Late evening visit until close. Went quite well after working out which doors were opening to get in. Guest ales badged at £2.49pp but was charged £2.50pp. Till / badge mismatch?

Rare afternoon visit after local chores.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Surrey Hills - Gilt Trip4.60ExcellentSurrey Hills is high in my estimation. All traditional English bitter styles right up my street
Wild Card - IPA5.20GoodAlthough wrongly not declared on the pump clip I suspected this would be a murky milk shake resembling concoction so only ordered a half, and it was just that. Mellow bittering made it OK

Evening visit until midnight close. Handy for late trains home. Impressed by the fast moving wide range of real ales being the best I have seen in a Wetherspoon's house since the pandemic affected customer demand.

Morning visit for breakfast, nobody behind the bar when I arrived, and I managed to find myself last in the queue when somebody finally did arrive. For some reason there were no fried eggs available today so I made do with poached. I managed three cups of coffee before finally breaking my mid day rule (well it was 12:00 in Belgium) and I had a pint. I did not make a note of all the beers on offer.
