Only the second or third time I have been in here since the pub’s massive expansion into the next door premises, which happened in around 2000. I sat in the original ‘pub’ part, for old time’s sake.

At the north end of Whitehall this is a large pub on several levels including a basement. Low ceilinged in the main bar which also has a sloping floor and its counter has 8 handpumps.
