Another lunchtime stop on the LEJOG tour. Good buffet, friendly service. We sat in the shade under the Tudor “marquee”.

Day 5 lunch stop of my LEJOG cycle. I made it here first by 1130 (having started 2 hours before everyone else) and they kindly served me with beer and pre-ordered sandwiches. Outside seating only but this includes a large covered area in the square opposite. Some sort of Tudor ‘marquee’ - idyllic.

14:05 Planned for lunch but got there later than intended, however they offered to provide Ploughman's which were excellent. The pub was winding down after lunch so we had the Public Bar to ourselves. There was a log smouldering in the grate and the sun streaming through the windows. Very atmospheric.

The pub is found in Pembridge, Herefordshire, HR6 9DZ.

16th century timber framed building opposite the Butter Cross. The bar is in the entrance hall with the public bar to the left and the lounge to the right. A dining room and the toilets are accessed down a flight of stairs opposite the bar owing to the pub being built on a slope. The public bar has a flagstone floor, a large settle and an inglenook fireplace with an open hearth. There are two handpumps against the wall behind the counter in this bar which suggests that there was no counter at one time. The pub has CAMRA Regional Heritage status and still keeps traditional opening hours.

We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 5 different beers and tried 4 of them.
