25 Sep 2019 (Philip Pirrip)
Late evening visit. Mesmerising Irish band playing with guitar, penny whistles, bagpipes (of some sort with bladders under both arms) and flutes. At the back, next to the toilets, is a canned beer self-service sales machine.
Buxton - Moor Top | 3.60 | | Marked down for some haze, not advertised at point of sale as being part of the beer, if indeed it should be there |
Redemption - Hopspur | 4.50 | Not Tried | |
31 Jan 2018 (Philip Pirrip)
Late evening bus change visit. Was given a taster of a PWA (Paddys With Attitude) Brewery 4.7% Tart Pale Ale and it surely was tart. Ran out when the next customer asked for it!
Howling Hops (Brewed at Hackney Wick) - Riding Ale | 3.00 | | With Ahtanum, Cascade and Mosaic hops. Subtly citrus |
03 Nov 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Speculative visit in the hope of finding something brewed on site. Bingo – there is a PWA beer available. Luckily it’s not my round as it was not cheap.
RedWillow - Headless Mosaic | 3.80 | | Golden and hazy. The great taste of Mosaic hops. |
Cellar Boys (formerly PWA (Paddys With Attitude)) - Double Big Juicy | 7.40 | | From key-keg. A turbid, amber, strong IPA in the growing ‘London Murky’ style. Tropical fruit flavours. We thought it was really good and told the guv’nor so. |
21 Apr 2017 (Stephen Harris)
I’d been itching to come here since PP’s report last month. Unfortunately there was no home-brew available today. Pub much gentrified from the last time I was down this way.
Burning Sky - Aurora | 5.60 | | Full-bodied, golden and hoppy. |

Evening until midnight close. Must have passed this thousands of times in the last 50 years but first visit having heard of its relaunch and of it having an in-house brewery. Good chat with the brewer and tried his keg New England IPA and, from an impressive 4 way T-bar, several very expensive Kernel keg beers.
