Just before 2pm opening but was served quite happily. Another 4 customers in within a few minutes. Looks recently refurbished in a rather plain style - but the gents toilets has walls papered with pages from old Beano comics!
We had an enforced rest day on my big cycle trip and so I decided to tick another one off my bucket list by going on the Settle to Carlisle railway.

Hotel with modern refurbishment in Clifford Street. Bare boards and pine. Small central bar with small room to the right with wood burning stove, and a large dining room to the right. Often in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide and winner of local CAMRA branch awards. A stone's throw from Appleby railway station on the scenic Settle to Carlisle line.
We have visited this pub once, seen 2 different beers and tried 1 of them.
