6th stop on the outing: Time to feed that hungry stomach after all that walking back now in the direction of Leigh on Sea Station. It took just on an hour to reach this Spoons from the Leigh on Sea Brewery Tap and they even had a new guest on here since my mid-afternoon visit. Busier than earlier as now early evening and many also tucking into food. Friendly prompt service for ordering my curry and a beer as part of the meal-deal.

Wantsum - Fortitude (was 4.2%)4.60GoodVery good head and lacing and lasting on this Thanet-based real ale from St Nicholas at Wade, south-west of Birchington-on-Sea. A hoppy fruited first bite. A gentle bitterness rising and a hoppiness climbing onboard from its mix of English and American hops: Cascade, Willamette, Amarillo, and Goldings. Four different types of malt adding their best. A dry bitter but gently fruited finale.

2nd stop on the outing: Busy as all Spoons are and even for my mid-afternoon visit but a few tables to be had. A good number and range of guest beers on with five on this visit. Friendly prompt service and a welcome pitstop about an hour on from my leisurely walk from Westcliff's Mile and A Third micropub along backstreets and through a park.

Robinsons - Trooper4.70ExcellentThis Cheshire ale from Stockport, south-east of Manchester and from a brewery dating back to 1838, presented very good head and lacing and lasting throughout. A very hoppy-infused first bite. A good fruity note or two leaping up. Bobek, Goldings and Cascade hops lending this deep golden ale a subtle hint of lemon but not that I overly detected it. A roasted maltiness rising. A fruity dryness drifting off in its finale. This ale launched in 2013 and the name, Trooper, is inspired by the Iron Maiden song which came from the famous 'Charge of the Light Brigade' which was both a disastrous historical event during the Crimean War and the famous 1854 poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson about it. This ale's name was refreshed in May 2024 when Trooper became 'Trooper Original'.

Lunchtime visit and fairly busy. There was a good selection of local ales on offer with many from the Brentwood Brewery. I have not listed them all.
