I used to frequent this pub at one time when a friend lived nearby, but have not been in for many years. I’m not one to grumble usually, but…. Short measures appeared to be endemic here, my peanuts were stale and the back of the bar area where I sat was full of cigarette smoke – could do better.
Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter | 4.00 | | A very ordinary sort of Bitter. |

Evening until close. Who, but a Sam Smith's, would close at 11 on a Friday night in a venue on a busy Covent Garden / Strand site.
Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter | 4.00 | | I always seem to pick up a slight acetic taste on OBB - must be part of the recipe |

16:15 Last stop on the crawl for me. Fairly quiet. Had to change beer and drink fizz.
Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter | 4.00 | | Horrible nasty off taste which I think is diaceytl caused by yeast breakdown. |

Made our way here after finding the Harp absolutely rammed. More or less empty when we arrived just after midday, but it soon filled up. Had lunch upstairs. Good prices and very pleasant staff.
Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter | 4.00 | | OK best bitter. A bit too cold and a tad lively, but perfectly drinkable. |

Second choice last stop on the Ghost Walk after finding The Tipperary closed. The guide stayed for a glass of wine then made his excuses. We struck up a good conversation with the friendly remaining group members: a guy from Kansas, a German girl and an aimiable Aussie who was trying to get to grips with the British ale scene. I decided not to go for the OBB, favouring the very pleasant bottled Oatmeal Stout and Taddy Porter instead.
