| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | ![]() | Excellent head and lacing displayed and clinging on to the end on this Lewes-brewed Sussex best bitter. A fruited bitter first bite. A hoppy bitterness rising with hints of caramel and biscuits in its mix. A dry fruited bitter note prevailing with banana and orange peel flavours. An emerging malty touch from its Maris Otter Malted Barley exuding nutty and bready flavours, Crystal Malt lending it some toffee notes, and flaked maize giving it a crisp edge. A lingering crescendo of hoppiness gushing downwards care of its Sussex, Kent and Surrey hops, namely Fuggles lending grassy and herbal notes, Goldings adding spicy and honey-like hints, Progress offering a softer bitterness compared to Fuggles, and Bramling Cross giving rise to blackcurrant and loganberry fruited notes. It admirably provided the sustenance needed after the walk from the Horsham Tap. |

The pub is found in Horsham, West Sussex, RH13 6EH.
This ancient pub said to be dating back to before 1840, is now part of the suburban outskirts of Horsham, and with the town from the 1800s renowned for brewing, tanning, and brickmaking. It is found at 43 St Leonards Road, Horsham, nestled in among neighbouring residential properties. Said to be linked to the Foresters' Friendly Society, a UK-based mutual society founded in 1834 as the Ancient Order of Foresters, branch members of the Society used the pub for meetings. The "U" shaped bar with slate floors, overhanging oak beams and an inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove lend it an extra charm. Through a door on the right is a small available function room while on the left is a door to the large patio and garden with tables and chairs. Three cask ales on, on a visit at the end of January 2026 and it is shown that the building and land are owned by Heineken UK.
We have visited this pub once, seen 3 different beers and tried 1 of them.
