| Three Acre - Ruby Porter | 4.20 | ![]() | This dark coloured Sussex Porter came with a handsome head and lacing impressively lasting to the very end. A smoky malty first bite. Hints of spice rising in its prevailing bitterness and most likely from the Challenger, a versatile UK hop known for providing a clean bitterness and spicy, cedar-like aromas, as well British hop, Progress, used to balance the bitterness and offer subtle herbal, grassy notes. A maltiness winning over with hints of dark fruits and chocolate to my taste buds with cocoa and coffee also in on the mix from just so-named malts along with a roasted malt to my taste buds. A malty bitterness climbing down from its memories of manning the air raid siren on the roof in its finale. This porter was presented in the finest of form and did not disappoint. *Three Acre Brewery, founded in 2018, near Uckfield in East Sussex, is described as an award-winning craft brewery based on a working farm in the Sussex countryside. |

The pub is found in New Malden, Greater London, KT3 4ES.
This Wetherspoon pub is in the unmistakable style of a former police station at 184 High Street, New Malden, and said to be dating from the 1890s. The cask cellar is visible through a window in the passageway behind the bar. At least one guest beer is usually from a local brewery. It is called the Watchman because it had an air raid siren on the roof during WWII. A member of the Royal Observer Corps aided by binoculars stood observing any bombers from Germany and operated the siren. The iron railings on the pub roof where the siren was are still there but the siren was only removed in the 1980s. The pub has a real fire in the conservatory at the back. It has been accredited for beer quality during 2023 and as local CAMRA Pub of the Year in 2023. On a visit in February 2026, it is still listed as being in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide and there were an impressive 10 real ales on, including 7 guest ales.
We have visited this pub once, seen 9 different beers and tried 1 of them.
