About The Lord Grenfell

Website.

The pub is found in Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 1TW.

A wood panelled two room pub and 3-star bed & breakfast situated a short walk from the town centre and the River Thames at 22 Oldfield Road. It was originally part of the Nicholson’s Brewery estate in Maidenhead and one of the few remaining of their original estate of pubs. Its freehold now belongs to Greene King. It is run by Morgan Pubco, the team behind the Express Tavern in Kew Bridge, the Sussex Arms, Twickenham, and the Corner House in Windsor. Five real ales available on a visit in March 2026 and matching the pub company’s emphasis on local producers as in hosting East London’s Five Points, the Chiltern Brewery and Brewpoint, the latter a brewery, taproom and restaurant located in Bedford, alongside Harvey’s and Bass, and the latter on this list currently brewed under contract by Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company (CMBC) at the Marston's brewery in Burton-upon-Trent. The pub recently won the CAMRA Pub of the Season for Autumn 2024 and is in the current Good Beer Guide as of the March 2026 visit. The pub’s name commemorates William Grenfell's status as a major benefactor and public figure in Maidenhead and where he donated or leased significant land to the town, including Grenfell Park which was gifted in 1897 to mark Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, and the land for Maidenhead Golf Club. He was the President of the 1908 London Olympic Games and the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Association.
