Early evening visit. Nothing ever seems to change very much in this likeable pub. In fact I’m sure it was all the same people tonight, sitting in the same seats as last time I came in.
Little Ale Cart - Harley’s Hop Special: Brewer’s Delight | 4.00 | | Golden. Big hop load in this, including Citra and Sorachi Ace, giving a sweetish and sherbety taste. |

I came in here with a thirst after walking back to Sheffield from the Nag’s Head, but was caught out by the 3:30pm closing time, only having a chance of a couple of quick ones from an impressive beer range.
Little Ale Cart - Spearmint | 4.30 | | A golden hopfest, with Magnum, Citra, Pacific Jade, Sorachi Ace etc... |
Blue Monkey - Rhesus To Be Cheerful | 4.50 | | A fairly straightforward, amber/chestnut coloured bitter. Decent hops. |
Millstone - Baby Git | 4.00 | Not Tried | |

15 Dec 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Quite a few in on a Saturday lunchtime.
Mallinsons - Cluster Chinook | 3.90 | | Pale dual hopped beer with strong citrussy hop flavours and a good malt base. Fruity hoppiness in the finish. My score 16/20. |
West Berkshire - Tom Sabin's Ordinary Bitter | 4.10 | | Red/brown bitter with a strong biscuity malt flavour with low hopping but quite a fruity, vineous finish. My score 15/20. |
29 Sep 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Salamander - War Path Stout | 4.50 | | Jet black stout with full bodied dark chocolate and roast coffee malt flavours balanced with a little hop. Good roasty finish. My score 16/20. |
Pictish - Millenium | 4.20 | | Using a rareish hop variety, which imparts a fruity and quite sweet character to the beer. Good malt base in this example giving a full flavoured, hoppy beer. My score 16/20. |
09 Jun 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
A few in on a Saturday afternoon.
Salamander - Practical Pipsqueak Porter | 4.80 | | Black in colour with roast malt and liquorice flavours dominating over a little hop. Dry, roast finish. My score 16/20. |
Mighty Oak - Mer May'd | 4.00 | | Very pale bitter with a good citrus hop character and a dryish finish. My score 15/20. |
17 Mar 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Little Ale Cart - Westmorland | 4.00 | | I don't often give 17 to a pale bitter but this one deserves it. Brewed with some excellent hops: Magnum, Herkules, Citra, Nelson Sauvin, Stella, Amarillo and Pacific Jade. That combination gives a fresh and juicy tasting hoppy beer with a lingering fruity hop finish. My score 17/20. |
18 Feb 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Little Ale Cart - Coal Train Coffee Stout | 4.50 | | Roast coffee beans dominate the flavour of this black stout. Lingering roast coffee finish. My score 16/20. |
Pictish - Dana | 4.20 | | Very pale and hoppy single hopped beer with a strong citrus flavour and a dry, citrus finish. My score 15/20. |
17 Dec 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Very busy with pub crawlers.
Little Ale Cart - Port Stout | 4.70 | | Lots of port has increased the ABV of the original Coal Train Stout by 0.3% to give a very fruity and vineous flavour to this malty stout. My score 16/20. |
01 Oct 2011 (Blair)
Love this pub, best pub in Sheffield is between this and The Fat Cat in my opinion. Too hot to be inside so sat in their little terrace.
Little Ale Cart - Kincardineshire | 4.00 | | Like all their beers I've tried, this one is a light and hoppy pale ale. Went down swiftly, very drinkable. |
