Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

Hogan SamplingExcellent12 Jul 2026 Fresh on with very good head and lasting lacing on this golden-straw coloured American-style pale from this independent craft brewery in Stowmarket in Suffolk, having been initially set up on a former dairy farm in Badley, Suffolk, in 2017. A hoppy first hit from being dry-hopped with US Citra and Australian Cascade and these hops were also added to the hot beer wort after the boil was over and before the liquid was cooled down for fermentation, and a process referred to as whirlpool hopping. A touch of Kazbek hops from the Czech Republic are known to be also added on occasions. A malty sweetness rearing and assisted by its barley and Vienna malt or flaked barley depending on what is used for each seasonal batch. A dry hoppiness winning over with a light citrus-fruited note lingering with a hint of mandarin, lime and grapefruit, alongside for my taste buds tropical hints of mango and pineapple. Served in good nick with much conditioning.
