Three of us met here for the start of a mid afternoon to mid evening session however the place was busy and getting busier so we opted to remain put and seated.

16 Feb 2024 (Magnus Greel)
First customer and time for a swift pint after duties in Canterbury before catching the train to Margate on a sunny and unseasoably mild February day.
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | | Good for first one out |
Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | Not Tried

I used to like this pub when it had world bank notes on the ceiling, partitioned booths, and a proper wee-on-the-wall toilet. Now-days it's like a posh London pub trying to be a country pub.
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | | It was okay -nothing wrong with it but a bit too creamy. |
Timothy Taylor - Boltmaker (formerly Best Bitter) | 4.00 | Not Tried

A fairly busy midweek evening with a mix of drinkers and diners. A quiet relaxed feel with even a chap stuck into a book of biblical sized proportions, given my protensity for exaggerating!

Mid afternoon a few others in. Friendly welcome for our group of a dozen of us with plenty of room to spare. Just the one cask beer on offer which was in superb condition.
Timothy Taylor - Boltmaker (formerly Best Bitter) | 4.00 | | All the TT expectations fulfilled. |

Mid to late afternoon a fair few enjoying the sun trap outside area including us.
Surrey Hills - Shere Drop | 4.20 | | An unexpected find and more unexpected served in excellent condition for this dry peppery ale with a lip-smacking bitter kick. |

Mid afternoon drinks with family we haven’t seen for a while. I believe that this pub changed hands shortly before COVID a struck. The previous owner had a lucky break. Nice to see this thriving - the, mainly covered, garden was very busy. But rather expensive and an unimaginative beer choice so I probably won’t be rushing back.
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10

Fairly busy with a few groups in though well spaced thanks to the layout. Friendly and welcoming with efficient table service made for a pleasant relaxed stay.
Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | | Had an unexpected nutty, caramel twang? |

Stop 10. Quiet. I checks that the vintage Jimmy Saville poster advertising the railways had been removed. Had been a feature for years on the wall facing the gents, most off-putting even before his notoriety.
Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | | Good condition- should be at £2.50 a half. |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | Not Tried
