Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

McGargleAcceptable29 Oct 2010 This was clearly tired with only hints of resinous hops and lacking condition in the mouth.

McGargleExcellent07 Oct 2010 Well this time I really enjoyed it. Resinous hops, full malt and intense fruity finish. Later beers seemed tame by comparison.
McGarglePoor03 Dec 2009 Well brewed and well served demonstration of what's possible rather than necessarily desirable. Clear mahogany with booming resinous hops, incredibly bitter with long, long dry finish. Not to my taste but others may love it.

Martin the MildmanAcceptable03 Oct 2009 Way too bitter and hoppy for my taste. Very leafy and grassy hop taste with an incredible bitter finsh that stayed with me on the 40 minute hourney home! Well brewed, so my score 12/20.

IanGood15 Aug 2009 I had 2 pints of this and still can't make up my mind. The hop aroma (Simcoes I think, but others say Nelson Sauvin) is brilliant. The biscuit on the malts are brilliant, but then the beer just dies and the finish just disappears. With one or two tweaks this beer could be a world beater.
JeffnJoExcellent15 Aug 2009 Dark amber colour. Stated as with peach, strawberry, pine and caramel flavours (some more than others). Interesting 'grower' inviting another!
DubbelExcellent14 Aug 2009 I really enjoyed this. Ruby red. Nelson Sauvin hops (I believe) made it taste very American. Big hoppy palate and loads of curve ball fruity flavours vying for attention. I got the strawberries and tangerine notes. Very nice indeed.
