Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

McGargleAcceptable04 Sep 2020 Bit honeyed and not really to my taste but what was the choice? And we could watch the locos coming and going.

RayAcceptable06 May 2013 I've a feeling that the yeast changed a couple of years ago and don't get on so well with beers now though others disagree. This I found to be thin and slightly astringent - not much from the hops.
StuAcceptable25 Jun 2012 Golden in colour, light citrus fruit, light bitterness, thin body not a lot going on.

Stephen HarrisGood24 Aug 2014 Golden, malty and nice.
RayGood08 Mar 2012 As good as this beer will now get. Fresh, malty with that slightly honeyed feel. Not a patch on earlier versions though.
RayUndrinkable13 Jul 2011 Last of the cask. Willingly changed though.
RayGood13 Jul 2011 Much better but I suspect the recipe has changed. Sweeter with broad hints of crystal malt. Not quite so hoppy but still eminently drinkable.
RayExcellent10 Aug 2010 Well balanced, high quality golden. Refreshing citrus hops and long satisfying finish.

RayAcceptable22 Feb 2012 Malty, lack of a hop dimension.
RayGood05 Feb 2012 Much better than recent samples. Less of the cloying 'honeyed' feel, better defined hop presence.
RayAcceptable27 Jan 2012 Can't get excited about this now. Mid-gold served in good condition but that malt hop combination leaves a slightly honeyed feel.
