Very busy indeed with most of the layout given over to an extension set out for just dining overlooking the Thames Estuary. A few pub seats and tables for just drinking at and so was lucky to find a spare table. Looks like just a little pub from outside and so a real Tardis on the inside.
Georges - Hilda B | 4.10 | | Both good head and lacing. Has an appealing and lingering bitterness and modelled, according to George's Brewery, on the original Burton ale. |
Greene King - Yardbird Pale Ale | 4.00 | Not Tried
Greene King - Watch Room | 4.30 | Not Tried

Monday afternoon, comfortable and welcoming. We were given several plates of very nice nibbles to accompany our beers. For some reason we decided to avoid the alcohol free Prosecco at £19.95 per bottle.
Georges - Hilda B | 4.10 | | House beer. |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Georges - Wakering Gold | 3.80 | Not Tried

It was 3.58pm and the signs outside said Happy Hour 4pm til close so we stood outside for a few minutes before entering. The barman informed us that the happy hour prices were for just about everything except cask ales but offered a loyalty card for our efforts. As with the other pubs in the area it was pleasantly quiet this January afternoon.
Crouch Vale - Brewers Gold | 4.00
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
St Austell - Proper Job | 4.50 | Not Tried | This ran out. |
Unbadged House Beer - East Angler Ale | 4.10 | Not Tried | The barman confirmed that this is brewed at the Caledonian brewery. |

Old Leigh is thronged today, with live music at two pubs, sunny weather and long queues everywhere for fish and chips, beer and jellied eels. I steer clear of the jellies today but find a beer festival on here – 22 beers on gravity dispense from local breweries in a marquee at the front of the pub.
Brentwood - Pacific Pale Ale | 4.70 | | Not the best in this style that I have drunk, but there are a few floaters in the pint and I think it must be near the bottom of the cask. |

Evening. Run by an outfit called East Anglia Pub Company. Like the rest of the High Street pubs tonight, was doing a very brisk trade with many on outside seating.
Theakston - Double Cross IPA | 4.20
Greene King - Ale Fresco | 4.30 | Not Tried
Jennings (since closure now brewed at Marston's) - Cocky Blonde | 4.00 | Not Tried
Unbadged House Beer - East Angler Ale | 4.10 | Not Tried | No provenance on the pumpclip so I would not touch. Barman thought it might come from Edinburgh thus would be Caledonian |

2135 hours visit. Only a few in - initially slow service but friendly welcome. Usually 5 real ales on but only 4 tonight.
Wibblers - Apprentice | 3.90 | | Warmish - probably first out for a while but still flavoursome with woody aftertaste |
Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried | Goodness me I have not seen one of these hilariously chunky branded handpump devices before where part of the outlet resembles a punk's bullet piercing! |
Shepherd Neame - Spitfire (or Spitfire Amber Ale) | 4.20 | Not Tried
Crouch Vale - Brewers Gold | 4.00 | Not Tried
