Visits Details
27 Aug 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit aborted by the 2 handpumps having clips turned round and barperson having no idea when real ale would be available again.
02 May 2022 (Philip Pirrip)
Late evening abortive visit. One pumpclip turned round - barman says sells only one cask beer here at the moment and will not be available until next delivery. Turned tail for more fertile cask ale territory.
12 Nov 2019 (Philip Pirrip)
Late evening visit. Website says closes midnight but seemed to be a last orders bell well before 11.

07 Apr 2019 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until 1030pm close. Availed myself to drink from one of the pub's 10 sided lantern glasses, albeit modern repros of the style and with embossed weights and measures pint mark on the base. Last one out.

25 Nov 2018 (Philip Pirrip)

17 Aug 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Early evening. A very pleasant pub with a slightly battered feel but some well-preserved features including a fine bar back. Plenty of people tucking into some good looking pizzas.
Purity - Pure UBU | 4.50 | | This went down very well. |
Adnams - Ghost Ship | 4.50 | Not Tried
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Wells Bombardier Burning Gold (use Eagle entry now please) | 4.10 | Not Tried
18 Jun 2016 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. Delightfully pleased by engaging friendly bar staff. Saw Cristiano Ronaldo miss a Euro penalty.
Big Penny (formerly Truman's) as of late 2022 contract brewed - Runner | 4.00 | | The best runner I have had in a very long time |
Shepherd Neame - The Classic 4-4-2 (No. 18 Yard Brewhouse) | 4.00 | Not Tried | Apparently a ten hop beer with a kick. No go for me as no sign of Shepherd Neame provenance on the pumpclip, what are they up to?? |
