4th visit of the outing: This micro that no longer calls itself such is still small in size but packs them in typically late afternoon for a live band on my earlier Saturday visits. This visit was sufficiently early to be minus the band but still a good few in, including a familiar face from SE London who had now joined us on this outing. Warm friendly service and a good four real ales on to choose from.

4th visit of the outing: Busy for late afternoon but friendly prompt service and four real ales to choose from. Had some good ones on my earlier visits this year. So, back with great expectations after my climb up to Bleak House to visit their newly opened tea-room and antiques shop which shuts slightly early at 3pm. Charles Dickens holidayed at Fort House, as it was then called, in the 1850s and 1860s, and wrote David Copperfield there. He is said to have also drafted his novel, Bleak House, whilst in residence leading to Fort House being renamed Bleak House in the early 1900s.

Head and lacing, very good, and staying the course. A malty bitter first bite. A moreish fruity hoppiness shining through its bitterness with the odd hint of a nut or two tantalising my taste buds. I was left very refreshed indeed by its pleasantly smooth bitter maltiness lingering. |

First visit of the day following seafront walk and high street café. Not overly busy was this centrally-located micro for our early afternoon visit on this sultry summer's day. Broadstairs so much busier than last Saturday and when there had been a torrential rainstorm the night before. Prompt friendly service from bar staff and barstool seating for myself and fellow real ale enthusiast from SE London on our daytrip.

| Georges - Broadsword | 4.70 | | Came with very good head and lacing and lasted on this extra strong bitter from the Great Wakering-based brewery set up in 2010, north-east of Shoeburyness in Essex. A moreishly dry bitter first hit. A pleasant malt-roasted flavouring looming up on the palate and a satisfyingly dry hoppiness winning over and lingering. Very quaffable but another style to try! |

Quiet footfall in this micro which no longer calls itself a micro. Still quite early in the afternoon and before it had a chance to fill up. As the sun was truly shining outside, many were soaking it up at this time rather than the beers. Prompt and friendly service and plenty of seats and bar stools to sit on.

| Tatton - Tatton Best | 4.20 | | This bitter is still produced by Tatton Brewery, and badged as such, and whose beers I do not recall trying before. But it ceased brewing north-east of Knutsford and south-west of Manchester after some 14 years due to no longer being able to sustain its operating costs. It has joined forces from June 2024 with Kent-based brewery, Wantsum, at St Nicholas-at-Wade, south-west of Birchington-on-Sea. This best bitter came with very good head and lacing and lasting throughout my half sampled. A moreishly dry bitter first hit. A pleasant maltiness rising up and lingering with the odd hoppy note thrown in for good measure. |

4 beers on, all at 4.70. Packed out again with blues fans and dogs. Beers only sold in purple plastic glasses at £1 deposit. We sat outside to escape the crowds.

The pub is found in Broadstairs, Kent, CT10 1NE.
In Albion Street, initially a micropub conversion from its previous existence as Reef restaurant. Opened in mid February 2019 selling real ales, ciders and keg beers, gins etc. Real ales sold through 3 handpumps on the bar counter and ciders through handpump and boxes in the fridge. Run by beer and cider enthusiasts from west Kent. Corner house with large picture windows on two sides. Furnished with high and low scrubbed top tables. Variety of traditional pub games available. Mainly sells Kentish real ales but from further afield too. In 2022 chose to rebrand itself as an ale house and no longer a micropub.
We have visited this pub 33 times, seen 70 different beers and tried 37 of them.
