I arrived at noon opening time on a wet Sunday and had my pick of the limited number of seats in this tiny brew-pub. It soon filled with locals. Five years since my last visit.
Kemptown - Black | 4.50 | | Black in colour. Chocolaty, a bit roasty, some slight sourness. Somewhere between a stout and an old ale I think. |
Bedlam - Hoppy Golden Ale | 4.20 | | Golden and slightly hazy. Has a good hop character from Summit and Cluster, whilst being easy-drinking. |
St Austell - Proper Job | 4.50 | Not Tried
Kemptown - Gold | 4.00 | Not Tried
Downlands (formerly South Downs) - Devils Dyke Porter | 5.00 | Not Tried

Friendly welcome on a Saturday lunch time with just a few locals in. Liefmans Kriek and Hacker Pschorr also available on tap.
Kemptown - Ye Olde Trout | 4.50 | | Amber colour with lasting thin beige head. Toasty, malty best bitter. Roasty toasty aroma. Really quite aggressive hops. Really rather lovely. |
Kemptown - Kemptown | 4.00 | | Pale copper colour with thin off white head. Very earthy bitter, really very good intense hop on finish. Earthy hop aroma, almost astringent towards the end. Not exactly subtle, but interesting. |
Kemptown - Dragon's Blood | 5.20 | | Hazy reddish brown colour with pinkish head. Very strong hop again, bit too much alpha acid throws it out of balance. Some toasty malt. Some nice cherry fruit in mouth with slight fruit aroma. Malts are decent, not sure of this one. Not horrible, but just slightly odd. |
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - Best | 4.00 | Not Tried
