Afternoon visit and reasonably busy with wet sales, this pub's contribution to Brighton Beer was to have their two guest ales from Sussex Brewers. I looked at the certificate from the Mild Marketing Board, the Gales Food Award and a John Smith's tray which were on the wall by where I was sitting. A good pub.

Evening visit. Always enjoy espying the enamel signs and tins which adorn the walls and remind myself of the happy days when this was a Gale's house and one could get corked bottled Prize Old Ale.

The pub is found in Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 4AD.
Former Gale's pub. Traditional corner pub in the Bohemian North Laines area of Brighton, south of Trafalgar Street. The central L-shaped bar serves one room. There are lots of early 20th century tin and enamel signs and tins on the walls. The wooden bar is mirrored by the bare wooden floorboards. This feels like a comfortable locals' pub that is welcoming to passers by as well. 8 handpumps.
