Mid to late afternoon fairly busy as expected. Excellent choice as always although sadly creeping into that time of the year with the green hop nonsense - meaningless to the casual punter.

Pub number thirteen on the tour. This definitely wasn't on the tour but John and Ian had to change trains so had time to kill. It was heaving so we ended up propped up by a large barrel outside.

Packed for my early evening visit but amazingly I did not need to queue at the bar and where they do not allow you sensibly to linger once served. Attentive service and then retreated to the rear garden where it had just gently pitter-pattered but the wooden benches remained stubbornly dry and so impervious to this short-lived and gentlest of showers. They have fish in their pond almost the size of baby sharks! One of the beers on had a handpump badge of "Mighty Oak Elephant" but then underneath it was a handwritten note labelled "Barley Wine 7.4%". There was a Mighty Oak Elephant from looking this up but at 4.7% and this was a special pale golden ale in April 2018.

The pub is found in Faversham, Kent, ME13 8JN.
Two room pub on The Mall just south of the railway station. Lots of wood in the interior with stripped wood floor, cream and green painted walls and ceiling. 6 handpumps of which 1 usually reserved for cider. Some ship memorabilia. No longer a Nelson Brewery pub - now under private ownership. 2007-2012 local CAMRA branch Pub of the Year. Has previously also been awarded CAMRA's East Kent Pub of the Year. Real fire is most welcome in winter. Local CAMRA branch Pub of the Year 2023 and 2026.
