Beer | ABV | Score | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Oakham - White Dwarf | 4.30 | Awesome, so hoppy. Sherbert. It's great. | |
Mad Squirrel (formerly Red Squirrel) - American Pale Ale | 5.00 | Amber/red colour with lasting beige head. Blimey, that's hoppy. Bit syrupy on the malts. I mean completely unbalanced, but a huge amount of grapefruity american hop. Stunning. Malts are a bit too sweet maybe. | |
Goose Eye - Chinook Blonde | 4.20 | Clear gold, thin white head. Some dustiness on the Chinook hops. Lovely fruits. Melon and passionfruit. Bit thin on malts. Great hops though. | |
Hanlons (formerly O'Hanlon's) - Yellow Hammer | 4.20 | Surprisingly I've never had this on cask. Gold, thin white head. Actually it is very distinctive, some banana on it, even some bubblegum. Pretty good British wheat beer. Some lemon. Really quite subtle, different and enjoybable. | |
Phoenix - Pale Moonlight | 4.20 | Copper, lasting beige head. Bit buttery maybe. Some elderflower maybe. Good condition in mouth. Decent elderflower. Shame about the butter. Really herby though. | |
Elland - Midsummer Night's Porter | 4.50 | Black with thin beige head. Good dry malt on aroma. Dry and some smoke on end. Good in mouth, good flavours. Some fruit, like dried plums. Cool. Fine. | |
Twickenham (also uses sub-brand Old Hands) - Four Grains | 4.50 | Gold, thin bubbly off white head. Little bit of sulphur on aroma, but the malts are good. It's actually a really satisfying best bitter. Good fullness. Nice bitterness which lasts on the finish. | |
Cairngorm - Black Gold | 4.40 | Black with thin tan head. Bit of liquorice on aroma. Thick and syrupy in mouth, some coffee and choc, but this dry liquorice comes through. Not great for me. | |
Kelham Island (probably brewed by Thornbridge now) - Golden Eagle | 4.20 | Gold, thin white head. Floral hop aroma, pretty standard golden beer, bit lacking on malts. Not enough hops. It's alright, no real interest. | |
Milton - Babylon Stout | 4.40 | Very deep brown with thin bubbly beige head. Coffee/choc aroma. It's fine. Some juiciness in mouth. Some lacticness. Decent cereal/malt, not my favourite Milton beer. | |
Twickenham (also uses sub-brand Old Hands) - Grandstand Bitter | 3.80 | Clear copper, thin off white head. It's a pretty standard bitter. Some drinkability, some citrus. Just a little empty on the malts. Some yeastiness. | |
Mauldons - Micawber's Mild | 3.50 | Really looking forward to this. Very dark brown with thin beige head. Oxidised. Flat. No condition. Over vented. Really watery and just poor. | |
Great Orme - Welsh Black | 4.00 | Clear dark reddy brown, thin beige head. Eggy yeast. Some fruit, damson/cherry. Some good choc. Juicy and grainy. Slightly farty which puts me off, not that good and I think I poured some away. |

The pub is found in Ealing, Greater London, W5 5BG.
This year in the Walpole Park only 10 mins walk from Ealing Broadway railway station. A tent for seating, and two for beer arranged alphabetically. Plenty of beers to choose from including a good foreign beer stand.
We have visited this pub once, seen 13 different beers and tried them all.
