Visits Details
02 Dec 2024 (Philip Pirrip)
Early morning after midnight visit. Somehow I seemed to have gate-crashed the pub's staff Christmas party.
Verdant - Penpol | 3.80 | | Easy drinking to wash down some freebie nibbles |
25 Nov 2024 (Philip Pirrip)
Early morning after midnight visit until close. Original temptation to attend was hint might have Titanic Plum Porter Grand Reserve on cask but was on the keg taps alas.
Kernel (The Kernel) - Victorian Mild | 5.70 | | Full bodied and moreish. Pricey at £6.60 pp |
Marble - Manchester Bitter | 4.20 | Not Tried
07 Nov 2024 (Philip Pirrip)
Early morning after midnight visit until close. Becoming a busy late night venue locally with its reliable 00:30 close every day.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Wild Swan (was 3.5%) | 3.40 | | Perhaps a little tired |
Verdant - Fresh Hop #2. Harlequin from Hawkins Farming | 4.40 | | A tasty green hop brew |
11 Oct 2024 (Philip Pirrip)
After midnight early morning visit until close.
Marble - Pint (was 3.9%) | 3.40 | | First day on pump and excellent condition. Just a pity it has been ABV dumbed down just for duty savings |
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur | 5.90 | | On a few days but not much loss of character |
30 Sep 2024 (Philip Pirrip)
After midnight early morning visit until close. Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter had sold out alas.
Howling Hops (Brewed at Hackney Wick) - Single Hop Pale Series No. 4 Centennial | 4.80 | | The only cask on - I do not normally try murk beers so a bit of a distress purchase but this was powerfully hopped and excellent |
23 Sep 2024 (Philip Pirrip)
After midnight early morning visit until close. Quite raucous here still with some of the landlord's pals inside and standing outside under the awning away from the torrential rain. An Orval bottled nightcap provided final closure.
Villages - Bumps Golden Ale | 4.20 | | Acceptable still after a few days on |
Anspach & Hobday - The Ordinary Bitter (was 3.7%) | 3.40 | Not Tried | As an aside had a taster, odd rubber like nose to it, suspect will be off sale soon |
19 Sep 2024 (Philip Pirrip)
After midnight early morning visit until close.
Villages - Bumps Golden Ale | 4.20 | | New cask on - poured flat and stayed flat. No natural carbonation, nor extreme citrus. A beer that was a bit of a chore to drink. Suspect problem is Villages not a very good cask brewer |
Anspach & Hobday - The Ordinary Bitter (was 3.7%) | 3.40 | Not Tried
13 Sep 2024 (Philip Pirrip)
After midnight early morning visit until close.
Fyne - Jarl | 3.80 | | Absolute clarity |
Kernel (The Kernel) - Bitter Simonds 1880 Bramling Cross | 5.80 | | On a few days but very good still |
09 Sep 2024 (Philip Pirrip)
After midnight early morning visit until close.
Kernel (The Kernel) - Bitter Simonds 1880 Bramling Cross | 5.80 | | Delightful hop backtaste |
Redemption - Kazbek | 4.00 | Not Tried
30 Aug 2024 (Philip Pirrip)
After midnight early morning visit until close.
DEYA - Batteries Not Included Pale Ale | 4.00 | | First day on. A mild taste which developed as glass was downed and that was further enhanced by some decanting between 2 glasses |
Redemption - Hopspur | 4.50 | Not Tried
