Met up here for a tour of Birmingham with other like minded beer tourists. By good fortune it was the Aston Heritage weekend so the first 20 people who ordered lunch got it for free. We then got a tour of the pub and the cellar including some hands on spiling and tapping. Beautiful pub.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Oakham - Bishops Farewell4.60ExceptionalUnbelievable condition and the hops on this are perfect to my palate.
Oakham - Citra4.20ExceptionalMany people give 5 stars on this site every week, but I will only give 5 stars if the beer is one of the best I've ever had. This was fantastic. The condition alone gives it a 5. But the hops, my god the hops. Beautiful. The hops are a variety of Simcoe created by Sierra Nevada in the States and gives a sauvignon blanc, gooseberry, cats pee, yellow grapefruit aroma and flavour. Best beer I had all day, all week, all month.
Oakham - JHB3.80ExcellentGorgeous light and drinkable
Oakham - Tranquility6.50GoodBit of earth, lots of tangerine, you can taste the alcohol in this.
Oakham - Inferno4.00Not TriedHad some in the cellar, very tart.

The pub is found in Aston, West Midlands, B6 4UP.

10 mins from Birmingham City centre on the 51 or 33 bus on the Aston High Street. Lovely Victorian flat iron shaped red brick building. Plenty of Victorian tiling, multiple rooms, Thai food and a central wooden bar with original snob screens. One of the 4 pubs owned by Oaka Group which is linked with Oakham Ales. Closed in early 2024 as allegedly being commercially unviable. Re-opened 31st August 2024.

We have visited this pub 11 times, seen 17 different beers and tried 12 of them.
