About 13:20 on a Tuesday lunchtime, it had just started raining so we popped in here for some shelter. Just a few customers at the bar but we were tempted to try the lamb stew and dumplings, and I wish we had done as we were unable to get anything to eat in the afternoon at any of the foodie pubs.

Splendid pub / hotel / restaurant in Preston Street located right opposite the station entrance, with original Victorian bar back, although sadly, the snob screens disappeared a few years ago. 5 handpumps sported on the bar here in banks of 2 and 3.
