A busy Thursday evening, I was impressed by the number of people trying the ales, and admiring the decor of this unspoilt pub.

Friendly customers - quick service.
Stewart - Copper Cascade | 4.20 | | Not a great fan of Stewart's house style but this came across as anonymous (no discernible flavours), slightly warm and lacking in condition. |

Well with new staff on duty this was a real disappointment. Locals and friends served: others ignored. A group of us walked out after waiting for more than 10 minutes.

Good welcome and friendly service. Old Peculier was always available but not seen on this visit.
JW Lees (see also Lees) - Supernova | 3.50 | | This is probably the staple Dark Mild plus, maybe dry hops. Smooth, enjoyable chocolate base with light hopping. Not much fruit in this example. |
