Early evening drink with Robert S. Morris dancers are performing in the covered market alongside and slaking their prodigious thirsts in here.
| Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Peverel | 4.50 | | A very pale, easing quaffing beer with lots of Mosaic hop. |
| Beatnikz Republic - Azacca Extra Pale | 4.40 | | A hazy Pale Ale with leafy hop flavours. |
| Burnt Mill - Steel-Cut Gluten Free Oat Pale Ale | 4.20 | | The only survivor from the previous night’s Tap Takeover by Burnt Mill. From key-keg. Great, fresh flavours. |
| Brew York - Triple H | 4.30 | | A murky amber brown colour. Well-hopped. I usually love this kind of thing, but this one didn’t work for me today. |
| Oakham - Citra | 4.20 | Not Tried | |
| Oakham - Scarlet Macaw | 4.40 | Not Tried | |

Last call on a little Borough pub crawl. Needless to say it is very crowded in here.

16 Apr 2018 (Stephen Harris)
Low-level Monday evening crowding means I have the rare privilege tonight of taking up a stool in the inside part of this little pub.
| St Peter's - India Pale Ale | 5.50 | | A nice, robust, English IPA with some peppery hops. Bitter. |
| Cassels & Sons - Red IPA | 6.60 | | Fizzy from old skool keggery, but nevertheless very tasty. |
| Nethergate (was Nethergate Growler for a while then name reverted) - Umbel Ale (aka Special Coriander Ale) | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Milestone - New World Bitter | 4.80 | Not Tried | |
| Dukeries - Chapman's Map | 3.90 | Not Tried | |
22 Mar 2018 (Stephen Harris)
A presentation tonight of beers from the new and very well-regarded Leigh-on-Sea Brewery. There are three on cask and six or seven on keg of one sort or another. The event has drawn a very large crowd and I soon find the numbers unbearable.
| Leigh on Sea - Crowstone | 5.50 | | I had enjoyed a half of this beer at December’s Pig’s Ear, and a full glass tonight does not disappoint. A very drinkable Black IPA. |
| Leigh on Sea - Cockle Row Spit | 5.60 | | From key-keg. A great, cloudy, US-style IPA. |
| Leigh on Sea - Legra Pale | 3.80 | | From key-keg. A cloudy, US-style Pale Ale. And very nice too. |
| Redemption - Hopspur | 4.50 | Not Tried | |

| Leigh on Sea - Six Little Ships | 4.20 | Not Tried | |
11 Mar 2018 (Stephen Harris)
Early Sunday evening and not busy.
| Cassels & Sons - Extra Pale Ale | 4.90 | | A New Zealand import on keg dispense – recommended to me by a friend who had been in earlier. Not dissimilar to the Grey Trees beer, but with a lot more balance. |
| Grey Trees - Chinookian VPA | 4.20 | | A very pale and intensely hoppy beer. |
| Tiny Rebel - Cwtch | 4.60 | Not Tried | |
| Heavy Industry - Collaborator | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
| Heavy Industry - Forza! | 4.50 | Not Tried | |

Here with Robert S for the Tap Takeover event with the Garden Brewery of Zagreb, Croatia. As always at these events here, it is pretty crowded. All of the Garden Brewery beers are kegged.
| Heavy Industry - Forza! | 4.50 | | A fruity, golden Pale Ale. |
| Garden Brewery (Zagreb) - Kiwi Sour | 4.30 | | A really nice, fruity Sour. |
| Garden Brewery (Zagreb) - Triple IPA | 10.40 | | Very serious stuff indeed. A headbanger in fact. |
| Garden Brewery (Zagreb) - Milkshake IPA | 6.20 | | This beer is bonkers. Cloudy and creamy. It both looks and tastes like strawberry milkshake. Yet it has a big alcohol hit. I’m close to five stars here. |
| Garden Brewery (Zagreb) - Stout | 5.70 | | Strongly-flavoured, black Stout. |
| Garden Brewery (Zagreb) - Yakima HBC IPA | 6.80 | | A golden IPA. Serious stuff but a bit too impacted by carbonation. |
| Garden Brewery (Zagreb) - Pale Ale | 5.00 | | A competent Pale Ale, but another that is overly-affected by carbonation. |
| Mallinsons - Columbus | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Heavy Industry - Collaborator | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
| Grey Trees - Mosaic Pale Ale | 4.20 | Not Tried | |
| Three Sods - Leapyear Golden Ale | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
12 Oct 2017 (Stephen Harris)
I was very favourably impressed by a visit to Brew York a couple of weeks ago, so could not miss their Tap Takeover here tonight. I resorted after a first pint to some little third pint glasses.
| Brew York - The Hoptimist Double IPA (collaboration with North Riding Brewery) | 9.10 | | From key-keg. A fierce Double IPA. |
| Brew York - NUBA | 6.60 | | From key-keg. A nice, clean, golden, well-hopped US (Vermont) IPA. |
| Brew York - Blood Eagle | 4.50 | | From key-keg. A Pale Ale flavoured with blood orange and grapefruit. Nicely balanced, the flavourings being more subtle than I expected. |
| Brew York - Rhubiper | 4.50 | | From key-keg. Reddish in colour. Sharp, sour, lots of rhubarb flavour. |
| Brew York - Little RIPA | 4.20 | | From cask. A chestnut-coloured, relatively low-strength, Rye IPA – hence its name. Very drinkable. |
| Blue Monkey - NUTS | 4.60 | Not Tried | |
| Brew York - X-Panda: Centennial, Ekuanot & Simcoe | 4.50 | Not Tried | |
| Bowman - Pukka Porter | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
05 Sep 2017 (Stephen Harris)
This pub has been in the news recently for charging £13:50 a pint for a particular beer. Personally I have no problem with that as this is a pub where the price of each of the cask and keg beers is prominently displayed. If you don’t want to pay £13:50, then don’t order it. I knew full well tonight that my pint was going to cost £4:20 and had the right money ready by the time I was served.
| Fallen - Chew Chew | 6.00 | | Pitch black. A salted caramel-flavoured Milk Stout. Delicious. |
| Burton Bridge - Dam Dog | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
| Anarchy - Smoke Bomb | 3.90 | Not Tried | |
| 360° - APA | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
21 Aug 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Monday evening and nice to find this pub quiet for a change. Serious beer talk at the bar – the declining status of Thornbridge Jaipur, new hop varieties from Argentina, and the booming pub scene in Budapest – the latter something I’m hoping to see for myself in November.
| Victory Brewing Company - Summer Love | 5.20 | | A keg beer from the USA. Golden in colour and bursting with hop flavours, from the interesting mix of Citra, Simcoe, Cascade and Tettnang. |
| Anarchy - Boot Boys | 5.00 | | A Brown Ale that packs a punch. |
| TicketyBrew - NZ Gold | 4.00 | | A golden beer with fine hop flavours but distinctly lacking in body. |
| Electric Bear - Inspector Remorse | 4.70 | Not Tried | |
| Dukeries - Chapman's Map | 3.90 | Not Tried | |
