The police cordons are down and Borough Market is open again after ten days as a sealed-off crime scene. Very large crowds are present to give their support to all the businesses that have been affected.
Brewster's - Britannia's Brew | 5.00 | | Strength given this year as 4.5%; this is a collaboration brew with Yeastie Boys. It is a pale golden IPA, heavily flavoured with Earl Grey tea for a very aromatic and tasty pint. |
Vibrant Forest - Summerlands (was 3.5%) | 3.40 | | A pale, dry, hoppy pint in superb condition. |
Arundel - Castle | 3.80 | Not Tried
Oakham - MK Ultra | 3.70 | Not Tried

Here with Terry L in the early evening for the launch party of new Tottenham brewery BrewHeadZ. Their first three beers are available in key-keg form and are quite impressive – they had earlier in the day been available in bottled format at UtoBeer. The language of the evening here is Italian, the native language of the brewers and their large group of supporters.
Brewster's - Aromatic Porter | 4.50 | | Black. A nice, smooth Porter with decent hop levels. |
Brewheadz - Kitchen Porter | 5.00 | | A really nice Porter, the best of the three beers from the new brewery I thought. |
Brewheadz - Fired Up Donkey | 6.60 | | A tasty, spicy, cloudy, red Rye Beer. |
Brewheadz - Electro Beat | 5.40 | | A cloudy, tasty, hoppy Blonde. |
Rudgate - Viking | 3.80 | Not Tried
Salopian - Orbital | 4.00 | Not Tried

If it’s Wednesday night then it must be a Tap Takeover night in here. Sure enough, it is Saltaire Brewery’s turn tonight.
Saltaire - Stateside IPA | 6.00 | | Good US hop flavours. |
Saltaire - Citra Pale | 4.20 | | A pale beer with Citra character – could have had more Citra character. |
Saltaire - Belgian Wit | 5.80 | | On keg dispense. A somewhat sterilised version of a Witbier I thought. A clear, golden colour. A bit disappointing. |
Saltaire - Triple Choc (was Triple Chocoholic) | 4.80 | Not Tried
Saltaire - Cascadian Black | 4.80 | Not Tried
02 Nov 2016 (Stephen Harris)
I should have been in Southend watching football but a late departure from work knocked that idea on the head, so I came here instead for the Five Points Brewery Tap Takeover. It became very crowded however, so I stayed just for one before moving on.
Five Points - Brick Field Brown | 5.40 | | A great, dark, heavy-duty Brown Ale. |
Five Points - Railway Porter | 4.80 | Not Tried
Five Points - Five Points Pale | 4.40 | Not Tried

Early evening with Robert, we sat outside and enjoyed a few Californian beers from the Bagby Beer Company tap takeover. All were a bit too cold and fizzy from the kegs, but great beers.
Bagby Beer Co. - Pesky Neighbour | 6.00 | | A full-bodied Pale Ale. |
Bagby Beer Co. - Goof Troop | 7.00 | | Amber-coloured, resinous and hoppy. |
Bagby Beer Co. - Mohawk | 7.00 | | Pale and dry and hoppy. |
Windsor & Eton - Guardsman | 4.20 | Not Tried
Burning Sky - Plateau (was 3.5%) | 3.40 | Not Tried
29 Jul 2016 (Stephen Harris)
I met up here with Robert S after work and we stayed until it began to get crowded.
Bad Seed - Summer Ale | 3.80 | | Light, hazy and quaffable. |
Two by Two - Bergamot Citra Saison | 5.20 | | An unusual, pale golden beer with exotic flavourings. Cloudy. Nice. |
Roaring Four - Rakau NZ Single Hop IPA | 6.30 | | First beer I’ve seen from this new Brixton brewery – here on keg dispense. A full-blown, hoppy IPA spoiled slightly by excessive carbonation. |
29 Jun 2016 (Stephen Harris)
There is a Tap Takeover here tonight and Meet the Brewer thing with ELB from Leyton. Lots of familiar faces with brewers, drinkers and licensees gathering for the event. Three ELB beers on cask and three more on keg are available.
East London (ELB) - Orchid Vanilla Mild | 3.60 | | Masses of vanilla flavour. |
East London (ELB) - Pale Ale | 4.00 | | A special cask of the Pale Ale, dry-hopped with Bobek. Whisper it, but I thought the dry-hopping detracted-from, rather than enhanced this beer. |
East London (ELB) - Lamplighter | 4.50 | | A deep ruby/brown coloured, trad Best Bitter. Fruity and a little spicy. |
20 Apr 2016 (Stephen Harris)
Evening visit. Very busy. St George’s Day beer festival on, plus two Brewsters Brewery beers are being launched here tonight.
Brewster's - Stilton Porter | 5.00 | | A fruity, peppery, slightly roasted, black Porter. No cheese was harmed in the production of this beer. |
Left Handed Giant - Duet | 4.80 | | A really good, citrus-hoppy Pale Ale, brewed with Citra and Cascade hops. |
Steel City (cuckoo at Toolmakers) - Beleidigung zur Geschichte | 5.00 | | A cloudy orange/gold beer with a thick mouthfeel. A hoppy wheat beer. |
Brewster's - Pankhurst | 4.80 | | Bitter beer brewed with Juniper. |
17 Mar 2016 (Stephen Harris)
First evening of a four day festival of Irish beers, and the pub is predictably crowded. For some reason, nobody is wearing a green, orange and white sponsored top hat. Beers from ten Irish breweries available at the festival on either cask or keg dispense.
Boundary - Export Stout | 7.00 | | A strong, thick, black, warming Stout. |
Brehon - Shanco Dubh | 7.70 | | An impressive, near-black, smooth Porter. |
Mourne Mountains - East Coast | 5.50 | | Pale gold in colour. In slightly flat condition from gravity dispense – but excellent hops make up for this. |
White Hag - White Sow | 5.20 | | On ‘Nitro’ dispense, which I haven’t succumbed to for a while. Black. Not foamy as I expected. A strong, slightly sweet, smooth, Oatmeal Stout. |
Black's of Kinsale - KPA | 5.00 | | A cloudy golden colour. In the style of an American Pale Ale. Tastes a lot better than it looks. |
Independent - Connemara Pale Ale | 6.00 | | Golden and cloudy. A definite hop bite, but a little bit yeasty. |
Kinnegar - White Rabbit | 4.80 | | On keg dispense. Cloudy, gold and sharp. A hoppy wheat beer. |
