Busy with a visit from the Thursday evening mild drinkers.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Harvey's - XX Dark Mild (or Sussex XX Mild)3.00ExcellentTop quality here as ever, with no perceptible change in flavour between cask changes. The usual fruity, grainy, malty mix of flavours. My score 17/20.
Harvey's - Knots of May Light Mild3.00ExcellentSweet and fruity with some cereal malt flavours. Good easy drinking light mild. My score 16/20.
23 Dec 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Busy but not uncomfortably so with a visit from the Thursday evening mild drinkers and a steady stream of locals.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Harvey's - XX Dark Mild (or Sussex XX Mild)3.00ExcellentProbably the best sample of Mild you'll find in the Harvey's estate. Sweet and grainy malt with low hop rate and the Harveys yeast taste make this a classic. My score 17/20.
Harvey's - Old Ale (or Sussex XXXX Old Ale)4.30ExcellentSuperb sample of Old here too, complex malt and hop flavours combining to give a full flavoured dark delight. My score 17/20.
Harvey's - Christmas Ale8.10Not Tried

BeerABVScoreNotes
Harvey's - XX Dark Mild (or Sussex XX Mild)3.00ExcellentOn top form here, sweet, malty, grainy, fruity just like a good mild should be. My score 17/20.
Harvey's - Old Ale (or Sussex XXXX Old Ale)4.30ExcellentAlso on top form, not a sweet as the mild but more malty flavours like toffee and liqourice and also some hop balance. My score 17/20.

BeerABVScoreNotes
Harvey's - Porter4.80ExceptionalMore like Harveys should be, thick mouthfeel with lots of sweet malt but also some hoppiness towards the finish. As this is normally a March beer, I suspect this cask has been in the cellar for 2 months! A classic Porter. My score 17/20.
Harvey's - XX Dark Mild (or Sussex XX Mild)3.00ExcellentNow shown as plain "Dark Mild" on the pump clip, this also seems to altered in character since earlier this year, being more dry with less of the usual caramelly malty sweetness and grainy malt taste. My score 16/20, previously 17-18.
Harvey's - Knots of May Light Mild3.00GoodMore fruity than last year, from 3 different pub samples recently. Now has a dry, appley finish. Seems to have lost the characteristic Harvey's maltiness. My score 15/20, down from 16-17 last year.

Coming back from a meeting in Croydon had to change trains at Redhill thought I pop in to see if it was still an excellent pub as was the last time I visited 6 years ago I wasn't disapointed mostly ale drinkers good atmosphere freindly very efficient staff Full range of Harveys Beer. Needless to say I missed a couple of trains If you are ever in the area I strongly recommend a visit
