Came for the beer festival and managed to blag a lift from a non beer drinking friend. 20 beers to choose from several unknown to me.
| Adnams - Southwold Bitter (was 3.7%) | 3.40 | | Finished with a pint of this from the bar, nice and classic Adnams but would have been better without the sparkler. |
| Black Hole - BHB | 3.80 | | My beer of the evening, a gold bitter, hoppy with an intense finish. |
| Spire - Dark Side of the Moon | 4.30 | | Darkish bitter, slightly sweet with a good hop balance. |
| Sharp's - Special | 5.00 | | Dark copper, very nice malt and good hops. |
| Abbeydale - Moonshine | 4.30 | | Pale bittter, faint citrus with a nice finish |
| Brains - Dark (aka Red Dragon Dark) | 3.50 | | Sweet malt, roasty, some toffee with a gentle long finish. |
| Phoenix - Arizona | 4.10 | | OK,light with a mellow taste, no depth of flavour. |
| Orkney (Sinclair) - Nimbus Blonde (Atlas range) | 5.00 | | Nice enough, pale but a bit lacking for a 5% |
| St Austell - Dartmoor Best Bitter (previously 3.9%) | 3.50 | | Nice enough but unexceptional. |
| Moor - Merlin's Magic | 4.30 | | Rich copper colour, hoppy and full flavoured. |
| Titanic - Capt. Smiths | 5.20 | | Not sure about this one, perhaps a bit too sweet/malt, finish ok. |

Came here from the Duck, two festivals on the same day.......mmmmmmmm. A much wider selection here and a much better choice. Quiet when we arrived but soon became busy.
| Oakham - White Dwarf | 4.30 | | Very pale, crisp and hoppy, would never guess it was a wheat beer, very nice with a good dry finish. |
| Mauldons - Black Adder | 5.30 | | Dark and bitter with a strong roast taste, full bodied with a long finish |
| Castle Rock - Black Gold | 3.50 | | A dark mild, very nice, quite hoppy for this style. |
| Arundel - Castle | 3.80 | | Nice, some hops with an underlying sweetness |

Walked over the hills from home and got here about 12ish. Warm, friendly welcome, sat in the beer garden where the landlord was sticking up posters advertising the Barham Beer Fest to be held at the pub on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd August.
| Black Sheep - Best Bitter | 3.80 | | Landlady poured off about half a pint before serving mine. Nice malt but also a fresh hop at the end, really pretty good standard bitter. |
| Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried | |
| Adnams - Southwold Bitter (was 3.7%) | 3.40 | Not Tried | |
26 Nov 2006 (Andrew)
A few locals were at the bar and the pub felt empty due to it's high ceilings. The fireplace had Mackleston of Hythe cut into it.
| Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | | An okay pint of this okay beer. |
| Greene King - Ruddles County | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
