Came for a dinner of fish so we sat upstairs in the restaurant. The food was okay. I would love to say that it was excellent but it was just okay. The beer on the other hand was excellent.

Mid evening visit. An Irish fiddling group were in full swing. Seaside as it should be with a damp close sea mist making visibility very short indeed. Apparently been like it for some days now.

Early evening - a few locals in I guess - efficient but not friendly service. I had to tick this one off - used to come here in the 80s and 90s prior to eating at the wonderful Mad Chef restaurant next door - Tartar Frigate is little changed from what I recall. The Mad Chef is sadly long gone and now just a nondescript residential place.

I’ve got a bit of family history with Broadstairs, one of my great-grandmothers having run a boarding house here, and I have dim memories of childhood day trips to the town. I’d forgotten what a nice place it is and it was good to take refuge in here late in the afternoon when the weather started to close in.
