A very wet Tuesday, I walked from the bus stop near the Blue & White Café which turned out to be a mistake as people were driving like maniacs in terrible conditions and causing huge splashes about fifteen feet high as they drove through partial floods at speed. The pub/café has been enlarged since my last visit and now boasts some bus seats and tables and a 1960s cocktail cabinet with Britvic artefacts. Only the one cask ale available for the quiet periods in January.

Tonbridge - Coppernob3.80ExcellentVery good, I stayed for a second one.

Lunch time visit for a few beers and a sandwich. Karen was very pleased with the way that the Meet the Brewer (from Mad Cat) evening had gone the previous night. The pub is currently in the process of expanding in to the premises next door.

Evening until 7pm close. Very friendly and enthusiastic and knowledgeable proprietors. For me it is a pity it is almost impossible to get to by public transport but it meets local needs. Not a Micropub as it plays recorded music and has food offerings beyond "dabbling in snacks" but nevertheless an excellent venue well worth a visit.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Romney Marsh - Best Bitter4.00GoodTasty mid brown English bitter, I tried to convince the Guv to pour it from a height so as to give a fine bubbly head
Ripple Steam - Classic IPA4.50Not Tried

First stop on a mini-bus trip. Karen and Annie made us very welcome. Karen's home made pork pies were delicious.

Monday lunchtime, I had a good chat with the owners who gave me details about the beers that they will be brewing once their brewing kit becomes fully operational. The first brew will be a Best Bitter, hopefully in October, followed by a Orange Pale Ale and a Mild.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ripple Steam - Original Best Bitter4.10GoodThe very last two pints in the cask, very acceptable ale but unfortunately no more for at least a couple of days.

The pub is found in Smeeth, Kent, TN25 6SX.

Pub / café and (planned but never rose beyond trial brews - Sunshine Brewery) micro-brewery situated in Evegate Business Park close to the former Smeeth Halt railway station. Expanded in size into next door premises some time after opening. Not a Micropub due to enhanced food offering and recorded music often played. Simple good value sandwiches are a speciality and some hot food offering. Local businesses make great use of the food delivery service at lunchtimes. Real ales sold on gravity dispense with cold ice pack cooling left on top of casks. Early test brews of the Sunshine Brewery took taken in January 2015. Outside seating at the front. Changed hands and re-opened in September 2016. CAMRA local branch Pub of the Year 2024.

We have visited this pub 18 times, seen 29 different beers and tried 20 of them.
