Busy with a lot of overseas visitors enjoying the old harbour and a pint.
De Ranke - Hop Harvest 2015 6.20 Using the same malt bill as XB but with different hops this was, as expected, a clean, carefully structured beer. 5*? Nearly. Five Kingdoms - Bysbie Blond 4.50 Thin, dry and slightly astringent golden ale with more than a hint of badly executed home brew about it.

six°north - Hopocrisy 4.60 Beer of the evening. Well defined flavour profile and true to style. (Keg) Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur 5.90 What used to be a yardstick beer now seems ordinary. Not many hops and little from the malts - more a strong pilsner. 3* just. (Keg) Fyne - Maverick 4.20 Just not to my taste. Fyne - Vital Spark 4.40 Malty but fruity mild. Wild Beer Co. - Fresh 5.50 Wild are one of our better brewers but this example (on keg) was way over carbonated. Free house enjoying a fantastic harbour side location in Stonehaven's conservation area in Shorehead. 5 or 6 real ales, with an emphasis on Scottish micros. Excellent selection of bottled beers especially from Belgium plus interesting kegs which may be from Westmalle, Kwak or De Koninck. 2009 CAMRA Scottish Pub of the Year.
