Visits Details

09 Aug 2016 (McGargle)
Busy with a lot of overseas visitors enjoying the old harbour and a pint.
BeerABVScoreNotes
De Ranke - Hop Harvest 20156.20ExcellentUsing the same malt bill as XB but with different hops this was, as expected, a clean, carefully structured beer. 5*? Nearly.
Five Kingdoms - Bysbie Blond4.50PoorThin, dry and slightly astringent golden ale with more than a hint of badly executed home brew about it.
26 Jul 2016 (McGargle)
Busy early evening. Enthusiastic staff keen to offer tasters.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Cromarty - AKA6.70GoodHoppy but slightly rich. Key keg.

BeerABVScoreNotes
six°north - Hopocrisy4.60ExcellentBeer of the evening. Well defined flavour profile and true to style. (Keg)
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur5.90AcceptableWhat used to be a yardstick beer now seems ordinary. Not many hops and little from the malts - more a strong pilsner. 3* just. (Keg)
Fyne - Maverick4.20AcceptableJust not to my taste.
