Very busy with locals and the Thursday evening mild drinkers club.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Moorhouse's - Black Cat Mild3.40ExcellentExcellent, sweet and malty with a hint of hop and a good long malty finish. My score 17/20.
Dark Star - Porter (aka City)5.50ExcellentFull bodied modern style porter, with good hop character and toffee and roast malt flavours. My score 16/20.
Mighty Oak - Oscar Wilde Mild3.70ExcellentThis sample had been cellared for a few weeks, giving a very sweet beer of toffee/caramel malt flavours. Perhaps a tad oversweet, with no hop bitterness to add a bit of balance. My score 16/20.
Saltaire - Raspberry Blonde4.00ExcellentSuperb aroma of raspberry. The beer itself it more citrussy and hoppy with the aroma doing most of the raspberry bit. My score 16/20.
Brodie's (latterly contract brewed by Rhymney) - Superior London Porter7.10AcceptableCellared for 6 months, this had the effect of giving the beer a rather lambic character. A slightly sour tasted combined with a spicy hop taste gave this the character of how a porter might have been in the 19th Century. Not reallt to my taste I have to say, so my score 14/20.
