A very quick, early evening visit at a time when the pub was quiet.

This pub survived its first Leyton Orient matchday with flying colours and depleted beer stocks. A new Brupond beer was in the cellar, but not settled enough to be put on sale. I found myself being introduced here to CAMRA national chairman Colin Valentine, an unexpected visitor.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Adnams - Fat Sprat3.80ExcellentAmber beer that was flowing very well.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur5.90AcceptableProbably being sold before it was really ready, given the high demand today. Not completely settled and slightly yeasty.
Skinner's - Betty Stogs Bitter4.00Not Tried
Robinsons - Dizzy Blonde Amarillo Pale Ale3.80Not Tried

Now open, at last, on a permanent basis. Opening night and it is packed. Many familiar faces, but lots of strangers too. The pub now has a cellar and the beer is in good condition.

East London (ELB) - Nightwatchman4.50Good
Sharp's - Doom Bar4.00Not Tried
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur5.90Not TriedTaken off sale as it was 'mis-behaving'.

This pub will be re-opening on a full-time basis later this summer, but has temporarily opened for this weekend only as part of Waltham Forest’s ‘Love your High Street’ festival. Very busy until late – still has no proper cellar, and all beers on stillage.
BeerABVScoreNotes
East London (ELB) - Orchid Vanilla Mild3.60ExcellentTasty, thick, vanilla mild/porter.
Brüpond - Tip Top Hop6.00AcceptableA development of the Continually-Hopped IPA recipe, and the first time I have seen it for sale in cask-conditioned format. A fruity, golden IPA. Hazy and flat.
Wild Card - Jack of Clubs4.50Not Tried
30 Jul 2012 (Stephen Harris)
The concept is great and last Friday’s opening was much anticipated locally. Unfortunately the beer was rubbish on my visit and instead of settling down for the evening as planned, I grumbled a bit with some fellow, local ale drinkers and then went home.
BeerABVScoreNotes
East London (ELB) - Jamboree4.80PoorIn dreadful condition – warm and near undrinkable from gravity dispense.
Redemption - Urban Dusk4.60Not Tried
Beavertown - Neck Oil (keg)4.30Not TriedFlat and warm apparently.
London Fields - Hackney Hopster4.20Not TriedThis ran out whilst I was in.

The pub is found in Leyton, Greater London, E10 5OJ.

In High Road, initially this pub existed as a short-term ‘Pop-Up’ pub, open for the duration of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Then closed for nearly a year, it re-opened on a permanent basis in August 2013. The pub is housed in part of the former Leyton Town Hall. It has several different rooms in which to drink, and the toilets are housed deep in the dungeons. The interior of the pub is now very much more homely and comfortable than it appears in my early photo on this site from its pop-up days. Reclaimed by landlord and closed on October 2022, after alleged non-payment of rent. Re-opened under operation of Remarkable Pubs with a change of name in September 2024.

We have visited this pub 125 times, seen 256 different beers and tried 139 of them.
