I’m pleased to see that this pub is becoming popular amongst my fellow Leyton residents. It would be nice to see more locally-brewed beers amongst the selection though.

The kitchen at this pub opened last Friday and this is clearly bringing in new custom. Plus it is quiz night. The two combined mean that seats are at a premium tonight.

With a CAMRA Pub Crawl starting here, and the pub quiz beginning at 8pm, it is really quite busy with standing room only at the bar. Nice to see that one of the quiz teams features local celebrity Russell Slade amongst its number, and he takes a Pig’s Ear Festival flyer.
Adnams - Old Ale | 4.10 | | Classic old ale. |
East London (ELB) - Nightwatchman | 4.50 | | Beautiful, dark, beer. |
Adnams - Broadside | 4.70 | Not Tried

Tyne Bank - Witch's Finger | 4.60 | Not Tried
31 Oct 2013 (Stephen Harris)
Decorated for Halloween, but luckily their party is not until tomorrow. A good crowd in tonight.
Truefitt - Infant Hercules | 5.50 | | Full-blown Black IPA. Rather lovely. |
Tyne Bank - Witch's Finger | 4.60 | | A dark, malty, premium bitter. Somewhat lacking in condition. |

Milestone - Loxley Ale | 4.20 | Not Tried

17 Sep 2013 (Stephen Harris)
Early evening visit and the pub is rapidly filling up as Leyton Orient have a home match tonight and this pub is an obvious place to take on pre-match liquid. A fifth beer was available but I forget the name.
Bath Ales - Gem Bitter | 4.10 | | A malty best bitter with a toffee taste. |
Adnams - Topaz Gold | 4.00 | | Golden colour, malt and citrusy hops. Needs just a little bit more oomph. |
Sharp's - Coaster (or Cornish Coaster) | 3.60 | Not Tried
Brains - The Rev James Original | 4.50 | Not Tried
06 Sep 2013 (Stephen Harris)
Strictly-speaking, this late evening visit was probably superfluous. But my bus dropped me right outside, and I was tempted by the thought of a pork pie.

Brains - SA | 4.20 | Not Tried
